Alfie Briggs
Driver Update: April 2021
Alfie closed off a successful March month with a clean sweep at Teesside where he took home the 0 plate in his new X30 Jnr Kart with Praga Kart. Alfie opened the month of April with getting used to his new Praga kart at one of his favourite tracks: PFI as he now splits his racing between Praga Kart and Total Karting ICE. He took to Whilton Mill and Shenington shortly after, practicing and working out set up for both tracks in his Total Karting ICE kart.

His first race that month opened with Rowrah on the 11th April where he came 2nd in his class. Soon after, he was at Shenington again finishing set up for the race the following week. Just before the Shenington race, Alfie spent some time with coach Olly Hodgson, working on developing his driving for the coming race.
At Shenington Alfie finished Heat 1 in 15th place having pushed hard to make up 9 places from the start. Some bad luck in Heat 2 meant Alfie was taken out early in the race putting him at the back of the grid, but unfazed, Alfie worked his way back up to 21st place by the end of Heat 2 and going on to utilise that energy to win Heat 3. The Final saw him starting in 18th place and unfortunately again being taken out by another driver early in the race. The incident saw Alfie join the back of the grid once again but gaining positions back quickly to finish 17th before the end of the Final.
Alfie spent some more time with coach Olly Hodgson at PFI, in preparation for Round 1 at LGM with Praga Kart. Alfie qualified 6th at LGM and finished Heat 1 in 5th position. In Heat 2 Alfie was knocked out by another driver, but like always, used that energy to work his way back through the grid to finish in 10th. Contact on the opening lap of the Final saw Alfie start 6th but finish 13th – the position didn’t represent his driving that weekend, and with fewer racing incidents could have seen Alfie finish much higher up the grid.
Round 2 of LGM wasn’t an easy one for Alfie either: he made up 4 places in Heat 1 to finish 18th, before making up another 4 places in Heat 2 to finish 14th. Alfie wasn’t able to start Heat 3 because of an oiled plug so started the Final from the back of the grid, making up 7 places to finish 24th overall.
Alfie continues to work on his driving and self development in preparation for the British Karting Championships at the end of May, and has started helping younger drivers at Total Karting ICE coaching sessions where he has become quite the star for them!
