Ella Stevens
Driver Update: April 2021
Ella started April with getting used to her new Praga X30 Jnr kart and Praga team at PFI, and learnt quickly as she always has! Ella will now split her racing time between racing with team Praga Kart and team Total Karting ICE.
Ella opened the racing season with 3rd in class at Rowrah in the Total Karting ICE kart, then visited Shenington just a few days later to set the kart up at Shenington for upcoming LGM races. A lot of the start of the month was spent setting up and optimising the kart with both teams.
On the 24th April Ella spend some time with coach Olly Hodgson at PFI, who ran on track with her as they worked on developing her driving skills further. Ella’s first race with Praga Kart saw her competing at LGM. Round 1 saw Ella finish 15th overall in qualifying, going onto finish Heat 1 and 2 in 16th position. A penalty for a damaged nose cone resulting from contact in the round 1 Final meant Ella’s finishing position was moved to 32nd overall.
Round 2 saw wet track conditions in which Ella dropped 8 places in Heat 1 to finish in 28th. Heat 2 saw her confidence grow with the kart as she finished 14th having started from 22nd and taking another position in Heat 3. Ella finished the final 22nd, having started in 26th and facing some challenging track conditions.
In the first round of LGM Ella struggled with the wet set up and balance of the kart, as this was her first outing in wet conditions in the new karts. She continues to train and prepare with Alice Powell for her upcoming races in May.
