Alfie Briggs

Driver Update: Summer 2021

Barely time to take a breather after May, Alfie was back on the track on the 5th of June for his first Junior Rok race of the year at GYG in Round 1 and 2 of Super One Series. Here he achieved 2 pole positions, 4 heat wins and 2 incredible final wins.

Rounds 3 and 4 were held at Clay Pigeon on the 3rd of July where Alfie took home the 1st place trophy! He didn’t have a great start to the weekend after getting damage and bumper penalties on the Saturday but came back strong on the Sunday. Alfie qualified P3 before a wet Heat 1, where he got a great start and lead the entire race to finish P1. And in Heat 2, he still finished P2 despite some damage towards the end. He then drove a fantastic race, winning the Junior ROK by around 10 seconds!

“When the going gets tough, the talent shines through. Very well done mate – super proud of you. ” – Paul Leeming

After a well deserved break, it was on to Rounds 5 and 6 on the 31st of July for the Super One at Whilton Mill. The weekend started off great, with Alfie claiming a 1st place victory in the final of Round 5, with Round 6 on Sunday looking to be the same. Unfortunately, problems with the engine caused a DNF for Alfie, but he was not defeated and looked forward to the final 2 rounds at the end of August.

During August, Alfie had the opportunity to work behind the scenes with BBM sport at Silverstone, which he thoroughly enjoyed and learned a lot from. He was also at Whilton Mill one day to practice, when he bumped into none other than George Russell who took the time to chat to him too!

On the 28th of August, Alfie was back at Shenington for the final rounds of the Super One Series. Saturday was a bit of a struggle to say the least, with no power in qualifying, the engine seizing in Heat 1 and no power in Heat 2. But, he still managed to win the final, amazing! Sunday saw the final of the entire series, where Alfie came in a spectacular 2nd place, by just 3 points.

Next up for Alfie – the Ginetta Junior Academy trials to take his first steps into car racing… stay tuned.
