Ella Stevens

Driver Update: Summer 2021

Well, what a busy summer it’s been for Ella! We partnered with the Richard Mille Young Talent Academy to help Ella take her next steps in motorsport and on the 16th of July, she headed to Zuera, Spain. Ella started off testing at the RGMMC Talents of the Future with the Birel ART team and familiarised herself with the new kart, team, class and track! She had a successful weekend in the B finals and finished the summer heat in a strong 13th out of 23 in her group, but a 5 second nose cone penalty meant her finishing position was pushed to 17th. She put in good lap times all day, matching those in the A final!

The next weekend (22nd July), she followed the team to the FIA European Karting Championships to race in not only her first European, but also first Senior OK class race. Ella started the weekend strong on Friday, keeping her cool and finishing the day in 9th position. Very impressive considering she had to tackle the heat beating down on the track all day and temperatures reaching 40C! Saturday was more enjoyable with cooler temperatures, which saw Ella not afraid to be in the battle and challenge for positions, finishing the day in 16th place.  Ella closed off her weekend with a final session this morning as a farewell to the first European track she’s taken on.

As always, Ella impressed the team with her speed and talent, and we are set to see more outings with Birel in the future.

After returning from Spain, it was time for Ella to switch back to Junior X30 for Kartmasters with the Jade Racing Team where she had a tough weekend filled with lots of incidents. Then it was onto Rissington LGM a couple of weeks later in mid-August where she came P2 and part of the double podium for Jade Racing Team and Birel Art that day!

At the beginning of September, the FIA Girls on Track announced that Ella has been selected for the second year running, as a Rising Star. Out of 71 applications from 28 countries, Ella is one of only 3 girls from the UK across both categories invited to take part in the three day shoot out in October at the Circuit Paul Ricard!

Unfortunately the Rising Stars dates ended up clashing with Ella’s invite to return to race in Europe, but no doubt she will re apply to FIA Girls on Track the following year. Ella will instead be back with Richard Mille Academy and Birel ART in Europe during this time.

Ella has been on track practicing, preparing and finessing race craft to tackle Europe races. We’re all rooting for you Ella!
