2024 rookie programme
The TKZ Rookie Programme is aimed at drivers aged 6 to 17 who have little or no experience of karting on outdoor tracks and provides a structured pathway to progress their development into high performance karting at Motorsport UK licensed circuits in a safe and nurturing environment.
The provisional calendar can be found below.
We have training dates available in 2023 ahead of this program to get children more competent and confident with racing in our karts as follows;
Whilton Mill, Northamptonshire - Saturday 4th November 7.30 - 12.30
Whilton Mill, NOrthamptonshire - Saturday 2nd December 7.30 - 12.30
In Jan-Feb 2024, we have 3 dates with training modules and practice sessions for new drivers, managed by our event team and instructors. Perfect opportunities for drivers to get seat time in the karts.
From March onwards, Saturdays we will include training modules in the morning, with practice sessions in the afternoon, all under the watchful eye of the our instructors.
Sundays will be race days and have 1 Practice, 2 Qualifying sessions, and 1 Race for the Rookie Championship. There will be 3 Championships in 2024 (Spring, Summer, Autumn) with 3 rounds each, and drivers will earn points towards their Championship total on race day.
Drivers can join the Rookie Programme at any time during the season and participate in training, practice sessions, and Rookie Championship races. As they progress and become skilled race drivers, they will have the opportunity to advance to the National Championship. The Rookie Championship categories align with the National Championship classes:
- Bambino (aged 6-8)
- Cadet (aged 8-12)
- Junior/Junior Light (aged 12-17)
