Mid-season Review
After three race meetings in each of the TKZ Northern and Southern Championships, we are mid-way through the season. It has already been an exciting one and the competition is set to heat up even more! Here’s our round up of the standings so far…
BAMBINO
Competition is close in the Bambino classes. In the TKZ Northern Championship, only 11 points separate second place Jayan Prakash and current championship leader Joshua Adotey. Whilst in the TKZ Southern Championship, Xavier Ramsey has a buffer of 24 points to second place driver Jenson Quy. However, once the ‘drop round’ rule comes into play, it is looking like William Robinson, who has already missed a round, is going to be right in the mix after strong drives in the two events he has attended.

CADET
In the Cadet championship it is heating up in the TKZ Southern Championship with only 29 points separating the top three of Archie Loveridge, Warwick Mylum and Cody Trace. But Margiris Koveckis, another driver who has used their drop round at the mid-way point in the season, is still in contention when the totals are counted up at the end of the season, making this a ‘one to watch’ battle right up until the last race! Things aren't quite as close in the TKZ Northern Championship with Archie Loveridge and Cory Chapman having consistently found themselves on the podium, 29 points separating the pair, with a further 29 points between Cory and Junior Hall in third.
JUNIOR
Ethan Waters currently leads the way in the TKZ Northern Championship Junior class, but despite missing round one, Alfie Lambert has won every race since, putting himself in a very strong position when rounds are dropped at the end of the season. In the TKZ Southern Championship Junior class, only 4 points separate current Championship leaders William Sparrow and Joao Gabriel Castro. This pair already have a TKZ Championship title to their names, making this battle one to watch for 2023, while Finley Dunleavey is having a solid start to his debut TKZ season, currently sitting in third.
JUNIOR LIGHT
Thomas Merritt has driven well in the TKZ Southern Championship Junior Lights, after stepping up from the Cadet class for 2023. He has adjusted well and finds himself in first place, although Max Winfield isn't looking to make it too easy for him, as only 6 points separate the pair at the half-way point. And third placed Myles Harrison is another driver who is in the mix when dropped rounds come into play. Meanwhile in the TKZ Northern Championship for Junior Lights, Archie Hogan leads the way and his points total of 284 is the highest accumulated by any driver across all four classes. Myles Harrison's impressive total of 270 is only enough to see him sitting in second and Rory Hinckley rounds off the top three at this stage in proceedings.
Drivers have been seeing the benefits of spending time with our driver coaches, with those who have been attending the Saturday afternoon Open Practice sessions steadily improving round by round. The completion the STEM modules for each round are also starting to have an effect on the Championships, and the 5 points awarded to drivers for completing each module have had a noticeable effect on the Championship standings.
